Great suggestions, Pohanginapete – that would be very helpful. What might be even better would be a sound file of the different phrases as read by a native speaker. Maybe like a podcast version of the article. Next time for sure, insh’allah.

Very interesting Baxter. I love how you unveil (pardon the pun) some of the mysticism surrounding the Middle East. And I really like that “improbably flavored” – more refreshing that “impossibly…” and probably more true!

Just a suggestion: putting the stressed syllable of each word in Uppercase, and perhaps the stressed word in each phrase in italics or bold, would greatly help approximate pronunciation.
