My husband and I laugh about these as well as the mistakes he's made in English. He's said he "ran over" someone instead of "ran into." Another time he said he had someone "in" his desk instead of "at" his desk. I imagined someone trapped in his desk drawer... Thanks, all, for the nice comments. Although you didn't feel fully prepared and fluent at the outset, you decided to take on the challenge regardless. Oftentimes when we don't put enough 'ganas' into a new pursuit we are depriving ourselves of key opportunities we may never receive again. Bravo to you and your success in Mexico! Memories of asking for tacos con poco caballo when I couldn't distinguish between cebolla (onion) and caballo (horse) pooped into my head. And I cannot forget asking what kind of ajedrez (chess) they had for the salad (correct word for dessing = aderezo). Learning Spanish was a great challenge but SO worth the random (ok, not so random) embarrassments! Thanks for sharing. Oh this made me laugh!
