It's also nothing like your high school or college foreign language classes. You really need some preparation- a certificate program at the very least. If you doubt that, try taking any passage from a newspaper and see if you can explain why the articles (a and the) are used the way they are. There are methods that aid language acquisition that you need to know, too.
