It's funny though, I always thought there were so many foreigners in Kagoshima city, but perhaps that's because I lived in the innaka where there really were almost no other non-Japanese! The southern islands there are stunning! Kyushu has some of the most gorgeous greenery I've ever seen. And hiking in Kirishima was amazing. Natsukashii!!! I got all natsukashii reading this having recently lived for 2 years in Kagoshima.
